The world’s worst nuclear accident at the Chernobyl NPP has led to the great ecological catastrophe. Huge territories of Ukraine were polluted and damaged. Various machines, vehicle and devices were used during liquidation of the disaster's consequences.

Rescue works were carried out under the strongest influence of the   powerful radiation. After this, some equipment just broke, and some became infected and could not be exploited anymore. It was put in a special place and now Chernobyl vehicle graveyard is one of sightseeing for tourists who come to the abandoned places of Exclusion Zone and the city of Pripyat.

VILLAGE OF BURYAKIVKA

The village of Buryakivka is located nearby Chernobyl and 12 kilometers from the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Now the village is completely abandoned, and before the accident at the nuclear power plant, 226 people lived in it. They were moved to other villages and cities of the Kyiv region. In 1999, the village was officially removed from the register of settlements.

It was Buryakivka where a relative of Taras Shevchenko - Bartholomew Shevchenko - lived his last years, died and was buried. The men were cousins. Of course, it is just an interesting fact, and the village got its tragic fame not because of it.

Radioactive waste disposal facility Buryakivka is the last graveyard of equipment left after the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl accident.

What is this burial territory like?

The repository (sump) Buryakivka is a large fenced field. There are about 30 trenches with buried radioactive materials. There is also a site with "dirty" equipment involved in the liquidation of the Chernobyl NPP accident consequences.

Now only Buryakivka has maintained more or less whole copies of the equipment used at that time, but it is much harder to get there than to Rassokha in its time.

RASSOKHA - CEMETERY OF RADIOACTIVE MACHINES IN CHERNOBYL

There was another cemetery for nuclear accident waste - Rassokha, located near the village of the same name. Many fans of post-apocalypses visited this site.

Rassokha was extremely interesting for stalkers. There were a huge number of buses, motorcycles, armored personnel carriers, trucks and other special equipment, as well as helicopters, which took part in the liquidation of Chernobyl NPP disaster consequences. In general, a total cost of equipment buried in Rassokha was about $ 48 million.

In 2006, the sump elimination process started. The equipment was deactivated, sawn and taken to further smelting and disposal. At the end of 2012, Rassokha was officially liquidated.

Now the equipment on the territory of Rassokha cemetry is preserved only in some scrap-metal. виде немногочисленного оставшегося металлолома.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO SEE THE СHERNOBYL BURIAL GROUNDS IN 2019?

At the moment, there is practically nothing to watch on the Chernobyl cemeteries. The marauders almost dismantled the rest of equipment there.

Metal hunters who work quite legally there have almost cut the “metal memory” remains about tragedy. Therefore, now the graveyard of vehicles can hardly be called a bright landmark of the Exclusion Zone.

However, tourists coming to Chernobyl and Pripyat still get much of impressions of visiting the burial ground.
